Rebecca & Seth - An Annabel & Ruby Wedding

Welcome to Rebecca and Seth's wedding. They were married May 15,2010  at a gorgeous historic Pennsylvania farm on the outskirts of bucolic Saxonburg.  The day was, in a word, perfect.
But I know what you're all thinking: "You're a dressmaker, so show us the dress!"  You got it, people!
Rebecca fell in love with the gorgeous Alencon lace I used for her dress over a year before the wedding.Look at how fine the detail is, and the subtle crystal beading gave it just the right touch of sparkle.
Rebecca actually had another dress picked out for her special day but a few days before her wedding decided to let me make her dress.  It fit perfect!
Rebecca's daughter Annabel (pink) wore a dress designed by Rebecca and created by Wanda, a master seamstress in her own rite.
Just like with all weddings, everything came together in the nick of time.
I am passionately in love with the scalloped lace I used around the neckline and the triple flounce of my skirt--so soft, romantic and retro! My hairpiece is from Etsy, of course.

Annabel, very impressed by Rebecca's transformation from everyday Mom to a Bride

Rebecca's Mama is wearing an Annabel & Ruby creation made by Wanda  as well, custom designed after a vintage 1950s shirt dress pattern.

Lace covered buttons and a navy silk satin sash--swoon!

Getting ready was such a breeze--Rebecca and her  sister Catherine  had a great time getting glam, though they kind of ran out of time to practice their wedding day looks beforehand!  They really look like they knew what we were doing!
Rebecca and Seth's cake topper was one of the favorite wedding details--also from Etsy, of course!  And Rebecca's amazing sister made both the wedding cake and the groom's cake!!

Peonies are Rebecca's favorite spring flower, and Annabel absolutely had to have pink in the wedding--done and done!

April from Mocha Rose Floral Design created the most perfect garden-style bouquets Rebecca and her  sister.; it was so lovely how the pink of the peonies and the creamy white of the anemonies played off the colors everyone was wearing.  Navy blue accents plus anemonies equals awesome!

Their photographers, Aly and Derrick Bash of Studio Bash Photography, did the most incredible job of documenting the feeling and personality of their day.  They captured the joy, the family atmosphere, the laid-back love that radiated from everyone--and their humorous vibe with each other was so fun to work with!  It made getting their pictures taken enjoyable--not a touch of awkwardness anywhere.

Rebecca and Seth really wanted their wedding day to be all about family coming together with love, humor and fun; Aly and Derrick did a perfect job of capturing those special moments they managed to snatch with Annabel (though she was so excited she could barely hold still for a second!)

As for Rebecca and Seth...theywere just overjoyed to have made it to the big day in one piece (more or less!)  It was lovely just to have a few moments together.

Yep, they pretty much smiled and laughed the whole day, with a few happy tears thrown in for spice.  It was, as Rebecca  said many times, just the perfect day.

Bathtub full of beer. A must-have for every wedding reception.

Annabel & Ruby featured in Whirl Magazine 2011 Wedding Guide!

I am BEYOND thrilled to announce that my very own little vintage-inspired DIY wedding (complete with my dream Annabel & Ruby wedding gown) is featured in the upcoming Whirl Magazine 2011 Wedding Guide!

Our fantastic photographers, Aly and Derek Bash of Studio Bash Photography, first came up with the idea of submitting our wedding photos for publication.  Aly thought our wedding would be perfect for their DIY feature - and it seems the folks at Whirl agreed! :-)

The Whirl Magazine 2011 Wedding Guide will be on news stands sometime around mid-February, but you can get a preview of the feature here.

Thanks so much to Aly and Derek, without whose amazing photographic talent none of this would have been possible!  I'm planning a long-overdue series of blog entries on our own little wedding shindig, but if you just can't wait another minute, you can preview the photos on Aly and Derek's blog.

Prince Edward Island - Melissa & John Michael

It's New Year's Eve...time for one last holiday treat before we return to reality!  I've been saving these pictures for just such an occasion--they're so delicious that you can't help but feel full of joy when you look at them. Melissa and John Michael's gorgeous vintage-inspired wedding on Prince Edward Island was so dreamy, colorful, and full of delightful detail--unique, personal and just gorgeous.  Promise me you'll look through all of this bright golden glory, and you'll be happy that you did.

Melissa chose a different set of vintage buttons for each of her maids' Emmeline dresses, and each set of buttons had a special meaning for the girl who wore it--how brilliant is that?

Each girl chose her own belt or sash to add even more personal detail (and va-va-voom!)

Breakfast with the bridesmaids--too adorable!

I love everything about Melissa & John Michael's wedding...I love how personal it is, I love the colors, I love the vintage inspiration and all the thought that this beautiful couple put into their special day.  It was an honor to play a small part in this gorgeous event.  Congratulations, lovebirds! :-)
